Liliaceae 2022

A series of still lifes created from a bouquet of agapanthus, photographed on the island of Bréhat. An emblematic flower of the island, the agapanthus becomes the starting point for a dialogue between interior and exterior, between the photographer’s gaze and the surrounding landscape, as well as with the silent memory of an intimate place. The images are built around precise framing: the bouquet appears in front of a window, in the reflection of a mirror, and of frames.

Each photograph becomes an attempt to inhabit the space through the gaze, to compose with what it reveals, but also with what it withholds. The title, Liliaceae, refers to the botanical family of the agapanthus while evoking the lilac hue that runs through the series, suggesting a soft, almost suspended atmosphere.

Between observation, composition, and sensitive resonance, the series explores the delicate connections between a lived space, a symbolic flower, and a gaze seeking echoes.
